GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- A 57-year-old road rage driver is behind bars after allegedly beating a teen, leaving him unconscious, and threatening to sexually assault his 15-year-old sister.
According to a news release from the Gwinnett County Police, on Wednesday, Feb. 28, an officer responded to the area of Buford Dam and Old Shadburn Ferry Roads in reference to a possible assault. An 18-year-old victim told the officer he was driving with his 15-year-old sister in the passenger seat of a car when he and another motorist, Duane Sudderth, "exchanged hand gestures."
Sudderth reportedly began driving behind the victim in his blue pickup truck and allegedly tried to run him off the road.
According to police, the victim said he drove onto a private driveway when Sudderth parked behind him, exited his truck, and "began to punch him repeatedly in the face through the window."
Sudderth also allegedly threatened to sexually assault the victim's "girlfriend," who was actually his sister.
According to the victim, Sudderth continued to beat him as he got out of the car. He eventually lost consciousness and called law enforcement when he woke up.
With the help of a Flock Safety camera system, police identified Sudderth as the owner of the blue pickup truck. Officers went to his home on Sunday, March 3, and arrested him on charges of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, first-degree cruelty to children, third-degree cruelty to children, entering auto, and aggressive driving. Police said he is being held without bond.
