COHASSET, Mass. (TCD) -- A 46-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of his wife, who has not been seen since the beginning of the month.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey announced Brian Walshe was charged with murder in addition to the previous charge of misleading police investigators in his wife’s disappearance.
Morrissey did not share information about Ana Walshe’s suspected death or other evidence in his video announcement but said they "are likely to be presented in the arraignment."
Cohasset Police said 39-year-old Ana Walshe was last seen "shortly after midnight" on New Year’s Day. She was reportedly scheduled to fly to Washington, D.C., that day and even scheduled a rideshare to take her from her home to Logan Airport in Boston.
She never made it on the flight, according to police.
Cohasset Police and Massachusetts State Police arrested Brian Walshe Jan. 9, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge of misleading a police investigation.
According to NBC Boston, Brian Walshe reportedly went to Home Depot and bought $450 worth of supplies, including towels and a hacksaw, around the same time Ana Walshe disappeared. Investigators also allegedly found a bloody knife in the basement of their home.
Police reportedly searched a trash facility for evidence and located items similar to the ones Brian had previously purchased at Home Depot.
Brian was reportedly on house arrest at the time of his wife’s disappearance as he awaits sentencing in a federal case. In April 2021, he pleaded guilty to wire fraud, interstate transportation for a scheme to defraud, possession of converted goods, and unlawful monetary transaction after he reportedly advertised two authentic Andy Warhol paintings on eBay and found someone to buy them. The artwork reportedly ended up being fake and he took a long time to give the buyer their money back.
The Walshes' three children are reportedly in the care of the Department of Children and Families, WCVB-TV reports.
