TEMPERANCE, Mich. (WXMI) -- The Monroe News reports 45-year-old Kenny McBride is charged with murder and mutilation of a corpse in the death of his 79-year-old grandmother Cecelia Gibson.
Authorities say the woman died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies found the victim's body in the living room early Monday. Her head was located in the back yard of the home McBride shared with Gibson, as well as McBride's father.
Authorities allege McBride killed Gibson and then beheaded her. Gibson reportedly suffered blunt force trauma to the head and other injuries before she was beheaded, officials say.
Gibson was the mother-in-law of McBride's father. The father arrived home in the early morning hours on Monday and discovered a bloody scene. A potential motive has not yet been reported.
