CLEARWATER, Fla. (TCD) -- A 41-year-old man is accused of fatally stabbing a tenant who was renting his late mother's home amid a probate and civil litigation.
On the night of Thursday, March 16, the Clearwater Police Department said Aurelian Frumosu went into the backyard of his deceased mother's home and "began damaging an exterior air conditioning unit, kicking it, and banging on it with a brick."
Scott Christy, 61, reportedly went outside to investigate the commotion while Frumosu entered the home.
According to police, a fight between Frumosu and Christy ensued inside the home before Frumosu allegedly stabbed Christy. Christy was reportedly transported to the Morton Plant Hospital, where he later died.
Frumosu was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and armed burglary.
Police said the Christy family rents the home, and the property "has been in probate," and there is an ongoing "civil litigation between the Christy family and the children of the owner."
According to the Florida Courts website, a probate is a "court-supervised process for identifying and gathering the assets of a deceased person, paying the decedent's debts, and distributing the decedent's assets to his or her beneficiaries."
