DEKALB, Ill. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 29-year-old sex offender this week in connection with the death of a missing 15-year-old female whose body was found in a dumpster.
According to a news release from the DeKalb Police Department, Gracie Sasso-Cleveland’s family reported her missing May 6 after they hadn’t seen or heard from her since the evening of May 4. Officials obtained phone records that showed she was at 536 College Ave. the night she disappeared.
Police located Sasso-Cleveland’s body in a dumpster on a property next to the 536 College Ave. address on May 7. That same day, officers arrested Timothy Doll in connection with her death.
According to police, Doll and the victim were dating. On the night of May 4, he and Sasso-Cleveland allegedly got into an argument, and Doll "held the victim down and suffocated her with a pillow until she lost consciousness." He then reportedly placed her body in the dumpster, "removed her personal items from his apartment, and threw her phone away in the garbage at another location."
An autopsy report determined the victim died of asphyxiation.
On May 8, Doll was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sex abuse, concealment of a homicide, aggravated domestic battery, two counts of obstruction of justice, unlawful restraint, and unlawful communication by a child sex offender.
According to police, Doll was on probation stemming from a 2020 aggravated criminal sexual abuse case. Illinois State Police records show he was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse/victim 13-16 and child pornography –– victim less than 13.
