LANCASTER, Calif. (TCD) --
A California man stabbed two of his children, decapitated them and forced their siblings to stay in the house with them for days, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Maurice Taylor Sr., 34, allegedly stabbed his 13-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son on November 29, forced his 8- and 9-year-old sons to look at their bodies, then made the surviving boys stay in their bedrooms "for several days without food," according to the D.A.'s Office.
Taylor is charged two counts of murder and two counts of child abuse. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 21.
KTLA-TV reports deputies were called to the home in the 45000 block of Century Circle on the morning of Dec. 4 after receiving a report of a gas leak, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department reported. Deputies found the two dead children suffering “some type of a sharp trauma,” according to the department. The trauma was from “either a stabbing or slicing device."
The Los Angeles Times reports the children's mother, who was in the house, is not a suspect but has been questioned by investigators. The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services does not appear to have had any involvement with the family, and deputies had not recently been called to the home, according to the Times.
