JACKSON, S.C. (TCD) -- A 36-year-old man from Georgia was arrested last week in connection with the discovery of a decomposing body in a South Carolina basement late last year.
According to WYFF-TV, officers from the Jackson Police Department searched the home in November 2021. Authorities reportedly discovered a bloody shirt on the floor, open cabinets, rooms ransacked, and burned documents in the kitchen. Upon further search, officers removed a piece of furniture blocking a door and found Eldon W. Ledford’s body decomposing in the basement with his hands and feet tied together, WYFF reports.
Ledford’s death was reportedly ruled a homicide, and the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
According to WYFF, Adeodoyin Babafemi Odutola was identified as the suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday, March 15, on the 3000 block of Mistletoe Avenue, WJBF-TV reports.
Odutola was reportedly charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and murder. As of Monday, March 21, WYFF says Odutola is jailed in Augusta awaiting extradition.
