PRESCOTT, Ariz. (TCD) -- A 62-year-old woman is facing attempted murder and other charges after she allegedly shot her husband in the middle of the night during an argument about their pending divorce.
According to Prescott Police, on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at a little after midnight, officers were called to the 200 block of Thoroughbred Drive regarding a shooting and found an 80-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his wrist. Medics transported him to a local hospital, then flew him to Phoenix for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police learned the suspect, Christina Pasqualetto, and the victim, Jon Pasqualetto, were getting a divorce and "had been separated for several months." She had been living at their residence in Gilbert while he was in Prescott. He changed the locks but suspected his wife of taking some belongings from the house.
The statement says Christina Pasqualetto made the two-plus hour drive from Gilbert to Prescott because she "did not want to get divorced." Christina Pasqualetto allegedly made her way into the house and walked into the victim's bedroom. He was in bed and the two reportedly started arguing about the separation.
According to police, "When he told her that he still wanted to get a divorce and wasn't changing his mind, she produced a handgun and shot him while he was still in bed."
Jon Pasqualetto pushed his estranged wife over, knocking the gun out of her hand. While trying to escape, he reportedly hit her with his hands and elbows. Jon Pasqualetto reportedly ran to a neighbor's house for help and called 911.
Additionally, he accused Christina Pasqualetto of stealing his checks and forging one for $10,000. Police reportedly found a deposit slip in her purse for the same amount.
Prescott Police arrested Christina Pasqualetto and booked her into the Yavapai County Jail for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, forgery, and theft.
