MONROE COUNTY, Mich. (TCD) -- Three people have been arrested for their alleged roles in the death of a 22-year-old woman whose body was found bound and wrapped in a tarp in an abandoned detention center.
On March 3, Michigan State Police troopers were called to the Boysville Juvenile Detention Center for a suspicious death and found Kayla Sedoskey on the floor. A Monroe County ambulance arrived at the abandoned jail and declared her dead at the scene.
Over a month later, on April 8, Michigan State Police said investigators arrested Sierra Bemis and Brin Smith on charges of homicide — open murder and conspiracy to commit homicide. A third suspect was also taken into custody April 7, but Michigan State Police did not identify that person except to note that the suspect is female. Her arraignment is still pending.
According to the autopsy report cited by WTOL-TV, Sedoskey was shot in the head twice and once in the back. The coroner determined she died at around 10 p.m. on March 2.
