Teen suspect arrested after Texas AC repairman fatally shot while on the job

HOUSTON (TCD) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested and recently charged with murder after he allegedly fatally shot a 51-year-old air conditioning repairman while the victim was on the job.
According to a news release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, May 12, at around 6:35 p.m., deputies responded to the 3900 block of Summit Valley Drive to a report of a shooting. At the scene, authorities reportedly found an unresponsive man, later identified as Wagil Aly, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was reportedly flown to the Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Upon further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said Aly was doing AC repair work at a home when the suspect, Eljiah Thornton, allegedly approached the victim and shot him.
According to KPRC-TV, Thornton was seen on surveillance video wearing a red and black outfit. The Sheriff’s Office reportedly asked for the public’s help in finding Thornton. He was later found and booked into the Harris County Jail for murder, the Sheriff’s Office said.
His motive is unknown.
