WHITEWATER, Wis. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 39-year-old woman who is believed to be the mother of a newborn boy who was found dead in a field earlier this month.
According to Whitewater Police, on March 4 at 11:12 a.m., officers and EMS responded to Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park on North Tratt Street regarding the deceased child. Several days later, Whitewater Police revealed the newborn was "located in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box, wrapped in a light-colored shirt and wearing no additional clothing."
Police believe the boy was left in the field less than 48 hours before someone found him.
On March 24, police arrested the suspected mother and booked her into custody in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of concealing the death of a child and resisting or obstructing officer. Police did not publicly identify the suspect, but said additional charges or modifications to the charges could occur as the investigation continues.
