HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 58-year-old man was arrested this week after he got off a plane from China for his alleged role in the deaths of a co-worker and his family.
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted the "huge news" that officials from the San Francisco Police Department, Customs and Border Protection, and Department of Homeland Security took Feng Lu into custody as he got off his flight from China. He was reportedly taken to the San Mateo County Jail and is pending extradition back to Texas. Lu has been charged with capital murder.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Maoye Sun, his wife Mei Xie, and their sons Titus and Timothy were killed between 7 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2014, when Maoye left work and 11 a.m. on Jan. 25, when the boys were supposed to attend a Boy Scouts event. Their bodies were reportedly found Jan. 30, 2014.
KTRK-TV reports Timothy was 9 years old and Titus was 7.
According to court records cited by KTRK, Lu and Maoye Sun worked together, and Lu asked him for a promotion. Lu did not get the new role, and he reportedly heard Sun did not recommend him for it, even though Sun said he did. Lu allegedly said he was being "treated differently" at work and suspected Sun spoke badly about him to their co-workers.
Lu reportedly bought a gun Jan. 23 and used the same one to allegedly shoot and kill the family of four.
According to The Associated Press, investigators conducted new forensic testing earlier this year and reportedly found Lu’s DNA on Xie’s purse.
