California teacher accused of sexually abusing student over 6-year period

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (TCD) -- A 52-year-old middle school teacher was arrested last week for allegedly sexually abusing a student over a six-year period.
According to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, an investigation was launched on Thursday, Jan. 13, after an 18-year-old male disclosed that he had been sexually abused between the ages of 12 and 17 by Joseph Nardella, a middle school teacher at Clement Middle School in Redlands. The victim was reportedly a student at the time of the abuse.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Nardella was put on administrative leave.
Upon further investigation, the Sheriff's Office says Nardella was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino for continuous sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 14. He remains held on $350,000 bail.
According to the Sheriff's Office, investigators believe there may be more victims.
