MANCHESTER, N.H. (TCD) -- The search for a missing 5-year-old girl who has not been seen since 2019 has reportedly been turned into a murder investigation.
On Thursday, Aug. 11, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella announced in a press release that Harmony Montgomery went missing sometime between Nov. 28 and Dec. 10, 2019, and was likely killed in early December 2019. Her remains have not been found, but Formella said "multiple sources of investigative information, including biological evidence, lead to this conclusion."
Formella said at a press conference he and other law enforcement officials "will continue to seek justice and look into Harmony’s murder and search for her remains."
Though Harmony had not been seen in several years, she was only reported missing recently. During a press conference in December, Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenburg said, "Help us find this little girl. Somebody out there knows something. It’s time to do the right thing. Someone needs to call in, do the right thing, and provide information to where Harmony might be."
Harmony’s father and stepmother were arrested this year. Kyle Montgomery was reportedly taken into custody on charges of second-degree assault and interference with custody, whereas Kayla Montgomery was booked on charges of welfare fraud.
During the press conference Thursday, Aldenburg said, "Harmony’s a sweet and innocent child who deserves to be brought home to her family and friends."
