Animal control wins custody battle over dog thrown off bridge

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. -- (WBFF) -- A judge awarded Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control custody of B.J., the dog thrown off the Blue Heron Bridge.
The dog was at the center of a custody battle after B.J.'s owner said she wants him back, but animal control said not so fast.
Six witnesses testified during Wednesday's hearing. Some [are] saying B.J. was running loose on a the bridge without a leash or collar before the incident.
A 16-year-old girl is accused of throwing the dog off the bridge. A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy testified the girl thought "dogs can fly."
The lifeguard assigned to the bridge that day says he noticed B.J. in the sand after he heard howling. The lifeguard added the dog attempted to stand-up, but fell over.
