California Superior Court judge arrested after his wife is found fatally shot

ANAHEIM, Calif. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 72-year-old Superior Court judge this week on suspicion of killing his wife.
According to a news release from the Anaheim Police Department, on Thursday, Aug. 4, shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 8500 block of East Canyon Vista Drive in reference to a shooting. Officers found Sheryl Ferguson inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police made contact with the victim's husband, Jeffrey Ferguson, at the home and arrested him on a charge of murder.
Police also spoke with the Fergusons’ son, who is in his 20s and was in the house at the time of the fatal shooting, KTLA-TV reports.
Ferguson has reportedly served as an Orange County Superior Court judge since 2015. According to KTTV-TV, prior to that, Ferguson worked for the Orange County District Attorney's Office for more than 30 years with the Major Narcotics Enforcement Team. He was also president of the North Orange County Bar Association from 2012 to 2014.
Ferguson remains held in the Anaheim Police Department's Detention Facility on $1 million bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
