SANDY, Utah (TCD) -- On Monday, Dec. 6, an at-home day care center was reportedly shut down after authorities serving a search warrant for a child porn case discovered methamphetamine contamination.
Sandy Police Sgt. Clay Swenson told KSL-TV that officers served the warrant on suspicion of child pornography. After discovering the drugs, they contacted the Salt Lake County Health Department, which then confirmed the methamphetamine contamination.
Swenson told KSL that no children were present in the home at the time of the search warrant, as it was early, but parents did show up to drop off their kids as the search continued.
KSL reports that the drugs were found in a separate part of the home from where the day care operated. According to KTVX-TV, Kelly Strebel is listed as the owner of the facility.
According to KTVX, the Utah Department of Health said in a statement, “The UDOH conducted a full investigation into a complaint received against the provider earlier this year. No evidence was discovered during the investigation to substantiate the claims made in the complaint. The provider was caring for fewer than five children and as a result was not required to be licensed. However, the provider maintained a full child care license voluntarily. This allows the UDOH to have access to the facility and to provide regulatory authority.”

According to KTVX, Kadence Pinder and Marcus Strebel lived at the at-home day care in February 2021 when they were arrested for child pornography. The couple reportedly possessed 125 pornographic images and videos of boys being sexually abused. According to KSL, they were even listed as employees of the day care at the time.
Strebel reportedly pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of minors while Pinder pleaded not guilty.
According to KTVX, Strebel and Pinder were ordered not to reside at the house but they were still living at the residence when the warrant was served.
KTVX reports that police have not made any arrests yet, but evidence has been recovered.
