Utah man accused of stabbing girlfriend in the face and chest, spitting on police

SANDY, Utah (TCD) -- A 34-year-old man allegedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend, threatened to kill her, and spit at officers when they attempted to take him into custody.
KSL-TV reports Sandy Police responded to a call near 650 East and 7800 South on Sunday, March 20, after someone dialed 911 and immediately hung up. When officers arrived, they heard a woman screaming. A 9-year-old boy reportedly answered the phone and told police the suspect Charles Oshodi "took his mom’s phone and said that his mom was going to die."
According to KSL, which cites the affidavit, police reportedly saw the victim sitting on the stairs with wounds to her chest and face.
Oshodi allegedly did not comply with officers' commands. According to KSTU-TV, he reportedly took a handful of pills out of his pocket and swallowed them. It was not immediately clear what kind of pills they were.
KSTU reports the victim told police she and Oshodi had been arguing "for over a week." He reportedly made her sit in a chair and was "acting as if he was going to stab her." He then allegedly stabbed her in the chest and nose. KTVX-TV reports the knife had a "silver blade that was 6 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide."
According to KSTU, Oshodi allegedly fought with officers when they tried arresting him and then spit on them.
KSL, citing court records, says Oshodi allegedly "threatened members of the public with a machete in the last few days." The woman’s injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
