HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (TCD) -- A woman was arrested after more than 30 dead dogs were discovered on her property in late February.
According to WLOX-TV, on Feb. 23, a local animal advocate, Connie Call, was alerted about multiple dead dogs on Jessica Collins’ property. Authorities reportedly found multiple deceased animals in trash bags on the property along with others that had been burned.
WLOX reports an emaciated Lab was discovered in a shed with no ventilation, food, or water. A dead buzzard was allegedly near the dog. Collins reportedly said the dogs were attacked by a bobcat.
The Humane Society of South Mississippi took in more than a dozen living dogs from the property while the dead animals were disposed of, WLOX reports.
Collins was arrested Wednesday, March 2, and charged with animal cruelty, WLOX says. She also reportedly surrendered 14 dogs she had on a property in Pass Christian.
According to the Magnolia State Live, Collins was released on bond the same day she was arrested. She is scheduled to appear in court April 20.
