SAN FRANCISCO (TCD) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a 43-year-old Bay Area tech executive was stabbed to death.

The medical examiner has not yet positively identified the victim, but friends told KPIX-TV the victim was Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App. He formerly worked as the chief technology officer of Square and most recently, chief product officer of cryptocurrency startup MobileCoin, an "encrypted cryptocurrency designed for use in everyday transactions."
Bill Barhydt, the CEO of Abra, wrote on Twitter, "Bob was a dad, the former CTO of Square where he created Cash App & CTO of Mobile Coin. He was a generous decent human being who didn’t deserve to be killed."
According to police, no arrests have been made, and officials did not say if it was a targeted attack. Police have asked anyone with information regarding the stabbing to come forward.
