Chicago man reportedly beaten to death while hanging Christmas lights

CHICAGO (TCD) -- A 49-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death over the weekend while hanging Christmas lights.
According to NBC Chicago, Jose Téllez was reportedly attacked Saturday at approximately 6:30 p.m. on the 3500 block of West 58th Street in the city’s Gage Park neighborhood. Chicago Police said two men "who were armed with blunt objects" beat Téllez when he was decorating his home for the holidays.
Téllez’s daughter reportedly was watching her father hang the lights when the suspects showed up. A Chicago Police Department report described the suspects as "approximately 20-30 years of age," according to the Chicago Tribune. The daughter saw the suspects, one "wearing a black sweater, and one wearing a gray sweater, beating her father with sticks."
The police report listed the weapon as a bat, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Téllez was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, NBC Chicago reports. He died at 10:32 p.m., according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Sun-Times reports Téllez had three children and a wife. One neighbor described him as a "family man, a hardworking guy."
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, police have not yet released a motive or descriptions of the suspects.
The investigation reportedly remains ongoing and no suspect is in custody yet.
