ANNISTON, Ala. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old father faces capital murder charges after his 6-year-old child died from suspected abuse last week.
Anniston Police officers responded to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to a report of child abuse, the department said. There, a 6-year-old unconscious victim was undergoing treatment and had to be transported to Children's Hospital Birmingham.
Police reportedly met the victim's father, Joshua Clark, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and transported him to the Anniston Police Department, where they interviewed him. After speaking with police, Clark was arrested for aggravated child abuse, the department announced.
A couple days later, on Friday, Jan. 20, police said the victim died from their injuries at Children's Hospital, and Clark's charges were upgraded to capital murder.
Clark remains held in the Calhoun County Jail without bond, records show.
Police did not disclose the victim's name nor any details on the specific abuse the victim endured.
