North Carolina cop accused of stealing $5K in gym equipment from YMCA

GASTONIA, N.C. (WSOC) -- A North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper is facing charges for stealing $5,000 worth of gym equipment from a Gastonia YMCA, according to an arrest warrant, the Gaston Gazette reported.
Jerome “J.J.” Letcavage, 44, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony larceny.
The newspaper reported that Letcavage allegedly took $5,000 in kettlebells, dumbbells, resistance bands and more from the Warlick YMCA on Wednesday.
Officials said Letcavage, who is a 22-year veteran of the agency, has been placed on administrative duty.
