Michigan man barricades himself in trailer after allegedly fatally shooting ex

WESTLAND, Mich. (TCD) -- A man barricaded himself inside a trailer after allegedly fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and leaving her body in a Jeep.
According to a news release from the Westland Police Department, on June 29 at approximately 12:06 a.m., officers responded to the 35000 block of Glenwood Road to a report of a shooting and car accident. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the body of 41-year-old Tabitha Cornwall inside a vehicle near the location.
Investigators believe Cornwall was chased out of a trailer by her ex-boyfriend, and she was shot while trying to flee the scene, WDIV-TV reports.
Cornwall's ex-boyfriend allegedly barricaded himself inside a nearby trailer. According to police, Westland Police officers and the Western Wayne County SWAT team secured the trailer and convinced the suspect to voluntarily exit.
The suspect, who police did not identify, is in custody.
Cornwall leaves behind two adult children, ages 25 and 23, according to WDIV.
The investigation remains ongoing.
