BROOKLYN, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 31-year-old off-duty New York Police Department officer reportedly confessed to shooting two women at a residence Wednesday evening, one of whom died from her wounds.
Assistant Chief Michael Kemper, the commanding officer of patrol borough Brooklyn South, said in a press conference Wednesday that at approximately 5 p.m., dispatch received several calls regarding shots fired and a person shot at a residence on 19th Avenue and 79th Street in Bensonhurst.
When officers arrived, they found a woman standing outside who said she shot someone and the victims were inside. A 24-year-old was found in the living room area with a gunshot wound to her chest. A 23-year-old victim was discovered on the floor in a bedroom, according to Kemper. Both victims were removed from the house via EMS, but the 24-year-old was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. The 23-year-old is expected to survive.
This is being treated as a homicide investigation.
According to WPIX-TV, the officer is Yvonne Wu and worked in Brooklyn’s 72nd Precinct. The 23-year-old was not identified, but according to WPIX, the deceased victim was Jamie Liang.
Kemper said in the press conference the alleged perpetrator has been with the NYPD for five and a half years. He believes the motive was "domestic in nature" and that all three women knew each other. Kemper said the home belongs to the 23-year-old who was shot and is expected to survive. That woman reportedly had an "intimate relationship" with Wu.

Wu allegedly waited inside the residence for her girlfriend and Liang to get home. Kemper said ballistic evidence includes a firearm, and there is a "very good chance it is her service weapon," but he could not confirm it at the time.
Wu was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
According to Kemper, Wu was "calm and collected" when she spoke with officers outside of the residence.
"Simply put, she confessed," he said.
