LINN CREEK, Mo. (TCD) -- A 27-year-old mother faces several charges because she reportedly did not seek medical help for her child after the juvenile fell into a stove.
According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, deputies received a call from a "concerned father" who said he learned his young child "suffered severe burns and that the mother had not sought medical care for the minor child." He reportedly asked deputies to conduct a welfare check at the home where the child lived with their mother on Canvasback Lane.
Deputies went to Amanda "Lerea" Terbrock’s home, but she reportedly did not allow them inside. Terbrock reportedly told the law enforcement officials her child "had fallen into a wood stove approximately four or five days prior and suffered a burned hand as a result."
She reportedly said she called the child’s doctor, but the doctor allegedly "advised she did not need to bring the child in."
Deputies called an ambulance, and Terbrock ultimately transported her child to Lake Regional Hospital. While at the hospital, Terbrock allegedly provided conflicting information about the burn and said she initially didn’t seek care because she "did not want to incur a large hospital bill."
Doctors reportedly told Terbrock the child would require more care. Deputies reportedly went back to Terbrock’s home and were let in by another adult who lives there. According to the statement, something at the residence "revealed evidence that led to the arrest of Terbrock."
She was taken into custody on charges of abuse or neglect of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of failure to secure a child less than 8 years old in child restraint or booster seat.
Her bond was reportedly set at $100,000.
