18-year-old arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and stabbing Omaha woman to death

OMAHA, Neb. (TCD) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested this week after a 61-year-old woman was found dead in her home with several stab wounds.
The Omaha Police Department wrote in a statement that on Oct. 31, officers responded to a death investigation call at 6006 S. 20th St. Officers discovered Jolene Harshbarger dead, and police turned it into a homicide investigation due to "suspicious circumstances."
On Nov. 1, Omaha Police announced they arrested 18-year-old Daniel Dejaynes-Beaman and charged him with first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
According to KETV-TV, prosecutors alleged in court Wednesday Dejaynes-Beaman sexually assaulted Harshbarger before stabbing her to death.
WOWT-TV, citing court documents, reports Harshbarger suffered from stab wounds on her upper back, arms, hands, and the back of her neck. Dejaynes-Beaman allegedly told investigators he got into an altercation with Harshbarger before attacking her with a knife.
Douglas County Jail records show Dejaynes-Beaman was denied bond.
