YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (TCD) -- The bones of a woman who had been missing since 2017 were reportedly found wrapped in a cloth late last month.
According to a press conference streamed by WKBN-TV, 29-year-old Amy Hambrick was last seen in November 2017 and was supposed to go to a friend's house, but she never showed up. Since her disappearance, investigators conducted interviews, used cadaver search dogs, and recovered electronic devices, but they were not able to locate Hambrick, WFMJ-TV reports.
Nearly five years since she was last seen, on Aug. 26, Hambrick's remains were reportedly found by a woman searching for her missing dog in the woods.
The bones were transported to the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, and forensic dentists were able to identify them based on the jawbone and dental records, WKBN reports.
Hambrick's cause of death is still under investigation, but because the bones were wrapped in cloth, investigators reportedly believe that someone knows what occurred.
Authorities reportedly do not know how long the bones were in the woods nor how long Hambrick had been deceased.
According to WKBN, Hambrick leaves behind a daughter.
