July 27, 2020:
KING COUNTY, Wash. (KCPQ) -- King County Sheriff's detectives are searching for fugitive Cody Jacobson, a robbery suspect considered armed and dangerous, after he escaped through a hole he dug in a motel room wall.
Detectives say Jacobson barricaded himself inside a room at a Days Inn motel on Pacific Highway S. in Federal Way on Wednesday, July 15, and escaped through a hole he made in the back before a SWAT team arrived.
Jacobson has been wanted since late last year for first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree trafficking stolen property and possession of a stolen firearm.
The King County Sheriff's Office said in November 2019, Jacobson tried to sell tools on the OfferUp app that he had stolen from a vehicle earlier in the day. Jacobson did not know that a person who contacted him about the tools was the victim he had stolen from. When Jacobson and the victim met and the man informed Jacobson he wanted the tools back, Jacobson allegedly pulled a handgun on him and demanded his money. The sheriff's office says the victim told Jacobson police were already en route, at which point Jacobson fled.
Cody Jacobson is listed as armed and dangerous and is a heavy drug user. He usually stays in motel rooms and does not have a place of residency, according to the sheriff's office.
Jacobson has 18 convictions, including domestic violence assault, theft, possession of vehicle theft tools, multiple DUIs and drugs crimes. He's 36 years old, stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 205 pounds.
