Naked Kentucky man used 'mushrooms with Jesus,' charged at deputies: Sheriff

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) -- An Owensboro man is facing several charges after deputies say they found him naked during a burglary in progress.
Daviess County Sheriff's deputies said they responded to the area of West Fifth Street Road and Highway 1554 in reference to a naked man running down the road and striking passing vehicles early Thursday morning.
Dispatch then advised deputies of a burglary in progress at a home in the area. Arriving deputies saw a man inside the home naked with blood and mud on his body. Authorities say the man started running at deputies and ignoring their commands, and they Tased him and took him into custody
Deputies say John Stefanopoulos, 41, kept repeating that he used “mushrooms with Jesus and that they were playing a virtual reality video game together.”
According to a report, deputies discovered the front door was forced open, there were holes punched in the drywall, blood was smeared on several walls and windows, and there was broken glass on the floor.
The Owensboro Times reports Stefanopoulos was arrested and held in the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with indecent exposure, burglary, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and menacing.
