CONCORD, N.H. (TCD) --
A married couple was arrested last week on murder, kidnapping and falsifying evidence charges in the death of a New Hampshire man, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced Friday.
Jonathan Amerault, 25, was found dead in Atkinson and Gilmanton Academy Grant, a township in Coos County, N.H., on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
An autopsy determined Amerault's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Britany Barron, 31, of Jaffrey, N.H., was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 24, and charged with three counts of falsifying physical evidence in conjunction with Jonathan Amerault's murder for allegedly altering, destroying, concealing, or removing items of physical evidence.
Her husband Armando Barron, 30, also of Jaffrey, N.H., was arrested on Friday, Sept. 25, on charges of capital murder for knowingly causing the death of Jonathan Amerault by shooting him while engaged in the commission of a kidnapping.
Investigators allege Armando Barron lured Jonathan Amerault to Annette Wayside Park in Rindge, N.H., in the overnight hours between Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept.20.
Britany Barron told New Hampshire State Police her husband found out about her relationship with Amerault after going through her cellphone, the Keene Sentinel reports.
The Sentinel reports Barron told officers Armando ordered Amerault into his car, where Armando ordered her to slice Amerault's wrists, which she did. She said her husband fired three shots, two of which struck Amerault in the chest, one in the head.
She said Armando Barron ordered her to drive Amerault's car with his body inside to an area where the Barrons had frequently camped. She said Armando ordered her to remove Amerault's head so he could not be identified via dental records, according to the affidavit. She said she did, and the head was buried separately.
Amerault was reported missing Monday morning after he did not show up to work, State Police said. Amerault and Britany Barron reportedly worked together at a medical supply company. Authorities announced Wednesday that they had found Amerault's body in northern Coos County.
Britany Barron told investigators that her husband assaulted her, leaving her with a pair of black eyes and injuries to her nose, on the night of the murder, the Sentinel reports.
