ST. LOUIS (TCD) -- A 49-year-old man who was recently convicted of killing his disabled son 20 years ago was found guilty of molesting and raping two juvenile female family members.
St. Louis County Justice Center records show a jury returned guilty verdicts for Dawan Ferguson on charges of first-degree statutory rape — person less than 14 years old, first-degree sodomy — person under 14 years old, second-degree statutory rape — person under 14 years old, second-degree statutory sodomy — person under 14 years old, and second-degree child molestation. He was already in custody for the first-degree murder conviction.
According to the Riverfront Times, Ferguson impregnated one of the victims when she was 13 years old. He reportedly started sexually abusing her and showing her porn when she was 11. Ferguson reportedly molested and sexually abused the girl and another family member who was over 14 years old from 2000 to 2013. Ferguson reportedly said he did not have sex with the victim who got pregnant but argued the girl found one of his used condoms and impregnated herself with it.
Ferguson allegedly made the girl wear a girdle during her pregnancy and tell people that someone from school got her pregnant.
He reportedly raped that victim when she was in college and got her pregnant again, but she reportedly ended the pregnancy. KSDK-TV reports the two victims were his ex-wife’s relatives.
In July, Ferguson was found guilty of killing his son, Christian, nearly 20 years after the fact. According to KSDK, Christian disappeared in 2003 and had a disorder that made him unable to digest protein. Ferguson reportedly initially told police his son was in the back of a car when it got carjacked. His body has never been found.
During his trial for Christian’s murder, one of the boy’s nurses reportedly testified Christian was often "dirty and smelly" but seemed "happy" to see her, KTVI-TV reports. She would reportedly find him wearing dirty diapers and clothes that hadn’t been washed. The nurse said she portioned out Christian’s medicine for Dawan to give the boy, but she would see the medicine left out when she returned the next day.
One of Christian’s sisters, Lin Ferguson, testified during the trial she believed she heard him being killed in another room of their house. Like the nurse, she reportedly said she never saw Ferguson give Christian his medicine and noted he was tied to his bed, according to KTVI. Lin also said she noticed Christian’s pelvic bones and he looked very skinny.
Following his second convictions, the Riverfront Times reports St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell said, "He couldn’t talk his way out of it. He’s going to be spending his life, and if he is reincarnated he’s going to spend a couple more, serving life sentences."
