SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (TCD) -- A 50-year-old man was sentenced this week to life in prison for the 2021 fatal shooting of his wife and in-laws.
Jesse Huy committed the crime on March 20, 2021, inside his home, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said. The victims were reportedly identified as the suspect’s wife, 48-year-old Tonya Huy, and her parents, 71-year-old Ronald Koehler and 78-year-old Linda Koehler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
According to KOLR-TV, Jesse Huy called Greene County dispatch and admitted to fatally shooting the three victims. He reportedly told the dispatcher he shot them because "they wouldn’t leave, I’ve been waiting for a week for them to leave, and they wouldn’t leave. I’ve had enough."
While Huy was being arrested, he allegedly said, "I got tired of it and killed all three of them."
The suspect’s in-laws were visiting Strafford to help Tonya Huy after she underwent back surgery, KY3-TV reports.
The bodies of the victims were discovered in the basement of the home with multiple gunshot wounds, according to KOLR. The suspected gun used to kill the victims was reportedly found in the suspect’s truck.
Huy told an investigator that he believed his in-laws were disrespectful, KOLR reports. He reportedly said that he was upset because his wife wouldn’t take his side on the matter, and she would defend her parents staying at their house.
Leading up to the fatal shooting, Huy asked his in-laws to leave at approximately 5 p.m., and his wife said they could stay, KOLR reports. Huy allegedly grabbed his gun from outside before shooting them.
In an interview, Huy reportedly said he shot them each twice in the head.
Huy had pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder, and on Friday, Jan. 13, he was reportedly sentenced to three consecutive life terms in prison without parole. Additionally, Huy was also sentenced to nine years for three armed criminal action charges, KOLR reports.
