WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KSTU) -- According to a probable cause statement from West Valley City Police, 24-year-old Isac Garcia was being driven home by his wife after a party where he was drinking heavily.
A fight broke out as they drove home, and Garcia -- sitting in the back seat next to the couple's newborn child -- slashed her throat and face multiple times with a knife, police said, adding that she was driving in dangerous, rainy road conditions.
The woman was hospitalized "bleeding profusely and holding her neck," the report states. Her medical condition was not immediately released.
According to police, Garcia admitted that he was angry and cut his wife's throat with intentions to kill her. He was arrested Monday on felony counts of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and domestic violence in the presence of a child, and a misdemeanor count of intoxication.
