LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting at the Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip.
On Thursday, Aug. 4, at 10 p.m. local time, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police tweeted they were investigating the incident at a hotel room in the famed hotel. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a follow-up tweet, Las Vegas Police updated the count and announced there were two people injured in addition to the deceased person. According to the tweet, the victims and suspect knew each other and it was an isolated incident. The suspect was reportedly not present when police arrived, but Capt. Dori Koren tweeted early Friday morning that the person was "identified, located, & arrested."
Koren said in a news conference that gunfire broke out at 8:30 p.m., and police arrived on scene within a minute. The two injured victims, both women, were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition. The deceased victim is reportedly a male.
The suspect’s identity was not released, but Koren initially described him as a "heavier-set" Black male in his 40s or 50s. The suspect reportedly does not live in Las Vegas, but Koren said there was a “local nexus” and a local address "associated with at least one of the individuals."
Koren said in the tweet, "There’s no such thing as getting away with murder" in Las Vegas.
