NASSAU, Bahamas (TCD) -- A former beauty queen was arrested and later released on bail for allegedly plotting with two others, including her lover, to kill her husband.
According to Bahamas Court News, 36-year-old Lindsay Shiver, 28-year-old Terrance Bethel, and 29-year-old Faron Newbold were taken into custody late last month after police investigating a crime at a bar in Guana Cay discovered WhatsApp messages that allegedly outlined their plan to kill Robert Shiver, Lindsay Shiver’s husband. Bethel is reportedly the man with whom she was allegedly having an affair.
According to the police report cited by the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Lindsay Shiver, Bethel, and Newbold "on July 16, 2023, at Abaco, while being together did, with a common purpose agree to commit an offense, namely the murder of [Robert] Shiver."
Lindsay and Robert Shiver own a home in the Bahamas, which is how she reportedly struck up a relationship with Bethel. Upon learning of the affair, Robert Shiver filed for divorce.
CNN reports he cited his wife’s "adulterous conduct" as grounds for separation. Lindsay Shiver, on the other hand, wrote in her divorce filing that she "incurred debt beyond her means to pay" and requested her husband pay.
Lindsay Shiver was given $100,000 cash bail while bail for the other two suspects was set at $20,000. Bahamas Court News reports Robert Shiver bailed all three out of jail Tuesday, Aug. 1. Lindsay Shiver is reportedly now required to wear an ankle monitor and was ordered to stay in the Bahamas until her court date on Oct. 5. Bethel and Newbold must also wear trackers and report to Marsh Harbour Police on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays before 6 p.m.
In 2005, Lindsay won Miss Houston County and came in second place at the National Peanut Festival pageant, according to WDHN-TV.
Robert Shiver played football at Auburn University in Alabama and was on the Atlanta Falcons roster for a short period of time. He has reportedly returned to his home in Thomasville.
