W.Va. man accused of fatally stabbing victim and staging it to look like a car accident

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (TCD) -- A 23-year-old man stands accused of fatally stabbing a 47-year-old man and staging the incident to look like a car accident.
According to a news release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, in the early hours of Nov. 15, deputies responded to a car accident on Greenbag Road near the intersection of Luckey Lane. At the scene, a car had reportedly been run off the road and had crashed into a ditch.
The Sheriff’s Office said the driver, Jamey Lynn Corbin, was pronounced deceased at the scene, but the injuries that caused his death were not consistent with a vehicle accident.
According to the criminal complaint obtained by WDTV-TV, detectives found "a large volume of blood inside the vehicle." The victim reportedly had suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck, chest, and torso.
Deputies went to Corbin’s residence to inform his mother of his death, and she told police that Corbin had a "tumultuous relationship" with Chance Williams, WDTV reports. She reportedly said that Williams had beaten up Corbin in the past.
Authorities went to Williams’ home and allegedly discovered "what appeared to be blood on the front door." According to WDTV, deputies also located bloody clothing believed to have been worn during the incident.
When officers spoke with Williams’ mother, she reportedly said that her son confessed to killing Corbin and that he "had a knife in his possession that he was scaring the family with early [that] morning."
According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Williams for first-degree murder. He was reportedly arrested and booked into the North Central Regional Jail.
