Calif. man in clown mask accused of sexual assault, groping, and robbery

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (TCD) -- A 22-year-old man stands accused of robbing one victim and sexually assaulting another, all while wearing a clown mask.
According to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, deputies with the Victorville Police Department responded to the Arrowhead Credit Union to a report of a robbery at an ATM machine. The victim reportedly said she had been robbed by a man wearing a "white clown mask and a red sweatshirt."
A second victim called 911 and reported that she had been sexually assaulted and groped in the parking lot of a grocery store by a suspect wearing a "white clown mask and red sweatshirt," according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said authorities located the suspect, Joel Hernandez, on the 12700 block of Amargosa Road, and he was taken into custody. Both victims reportedly positively identified the suspect.
Inside his backpack, the Sheriff’s Office said they recovered $500 cash stolen from the first victim.
Hernandez was reportedly booked into the High Desert Detention Center for robbery and sexual battery with bail set at $200,000.
