Former Maryland youth pastor and teacher accused of child abuse and sexual assault

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (TCD) -- A 59-year-old former Maryland youth pastor and teacher was recently arrested in South Carolina following a child abuse investigation.
According to the Baltimore County Police Department, detectives learned that Thomas Brackett allegedly abused at least two children while he was working in Baltimore County in 1984 and 1985. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said Brackett was a teacher and youth pastor at Tabernacle Christian Church at the time.
The investigation was reportedly launched earlier this year.
On Friday, Oct. 21, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said Brackett, a pastor of Holy Trinity Pentecostal Church, was located at his home on Gapway Road in South Carolina and taken into custody.
He was reportedly booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center for child abuse and sexual assault offenses. According to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, he will be extradited back to Maryland.
Police are searching for any additional victims, and the investigation remains ongoing.
