SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (TCD) --
Greenville County couple Ariel Robinson, 29, and Jerry Robinson, 34, were arrested Tuesday and charged with homicide by child abuse in the Jan. 14 death of a 3-year-old child.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents and Simpsonville Police officers arrested the couple, the division announced Tuesday. Both suspects were held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
WSPA-TV reports Simpsonville Police said officers responded to an address on Sellwood Circle at around 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 14 in regard to an unresponsive juvenile. The girl was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Robinsons were foster parents to the deceased 3-year-old girl, WSPA reports. An autopsy determined the girl died from multiple blunt-force injuries. Investigators said she died as a result of physical abuse.
TMZ reports Ariel Robinson is the winner of season 20 of the Food Network television show "Worst Cooks in America."
