NEW YORK (WPIX/AP) -- A new lawsuit says actor Cuba Gooding Jr. raped a woman in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013.
The lawsuit in Manhattan federal court was filed Tuesday. Last week, the Oscar-winning “Jerry Maguire” actor appeared in Manhattan state court, where he has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor counts of forcible touching and sexual abuse.
In state court, he has pleaded not guilty to six misdemeanor counts of forcible touching and sexual abuse. If convicted, he faces up to a year behind bars.
The New York Daily News reports the woman identified in court papers as Jane Doe 1 claims Gooding they met at a Greenwich Village restaurant, where Gooding allegedly invited her back to his hotel for a drink. Gooding asked her to come up to his room so he could quickly change his clothes, then refused to let her leave, court documents show.
A total of 30 women have come forward with wide-ranging claims of sexual abuse against Gooding that span more than a decade, the Daily News reports.
Gooding's attorney Mark Heller told TMZ: "Clearly, this is a fabricated accusation that was never reported to the police -- and forms no basis for any claim at this point with 7 years having passed."
