RUNNING SPRINGS, Calif. (TCD) -- A 42-year-old father was arrested after he allegedly "lied his way" into a secure area and attempted to drown his young daughter.
According to a statement, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, deputies from the Twin Speaks Station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were called to Pali Mountain Camp in Running Springs for report of a drowning. Deputies learned Timothy Shipman allegedly got into the camp and attempted to drown his 2-year-old daughter in a pond. His 5-year-old son was reportedly locked in the car when this allegedly occurred.
Pali Mountain Camp staff reportedly got the children away from Shipman until deputies arrived on scene.
The 2-year-old girl and her brother were reportedly transported to a nearby hospital and were listed in stable condition. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said Shipman was also taken to a hospital and then released to deputies.
Shipman was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and booked into the Central Detention Center. His bail was set at $1 million.
Pali Mountain Camp told KTLA-TV in a statement, "We were grateful to learn today that the victim is recovering and in stable condition, and thank the emergency personnel from Running Springs for their swift response yesterday."
The camp also said it was "proud" of their staff members for how they handled the situation.
