Georgia man arrested for allegedly shooting wife after initially claiming she committed suicide

JONES COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- A man was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his wife after initially telling authorities she committed suicide.
According to the Jones County Sheriff's Office, on March 27, deputies responded to a report of a suicide on Holloman Road. At the scene, authorities reportedly found Shyanne Schroeder suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Troy Scarborough, the victim's husband, was originally arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by convicted felon, the Sheriff's Office says.
Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece said, "The responding deputies got the feeling that something wasn't right about this case, and thankfully they trusted their instincts."
Scarborough reportedly remained in custody for the firearm charge since his arrest. Upon further investigation, it was later determined that Scarborough allegedly shot his wife to death.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Scarborough was arrested and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of firearm during the commission of a felony. He remains held without bond.
