CHICO, Calif. (TCD) -- Police have identified a 17-year-old victim who died during a house party shooting over the weekend.
In a press conference, Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge said officers were dispatched Saturday, May 6, at approximately 12:27 a.m. to a large house party on the 700 block of West 7th Street to a report of several shots fired.
Upon arrival, police learned a fight had broken out because an unknown suspect was asked to leave the party. The unknown suspect allegedly struck one victim on the head with a firearm and hit a second victim on the head with a glass bottle. Both victims were reportedly treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
That same night, at around 2:59 a.m., police were dispatched to a separate large party on the 1000 block of Columbus Avenue to a report of a brandished firearm. Police cleared out the party and located a potential suspect from the earlier incident on West 7th Street and made an arrest for possession of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.
The Chico Police Department was dispatched back to the 1000 block of Columbus Avenue at approximately 3:26 a.m. to a report of a shooting, where police learned six victims, ages 17 to 21 years old, had been struck by gunfire. Police believe the suspect or suspects fired the shots from a moving car.
According to police, one victim refused treatment, but the five other victims were transported to the hospital. One of the victims, a 17-year-old female identified as Justina Stubbe, died from her wounds. The other victims’ injuries were not life-threatening.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
