N.Y. man sentenced to at least 25 years in prison for killing woman found decomposing in pond

BRANT, N.Y. (TCD) -- A judge has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 25 years to life for fatally shooting a woman whose body was found in a pond.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Keith Renaldo Jr.’s sentence Tuesday, July 25. He was convicted June 15 of second-degree murder for the shooting death of Gina Baca. The sentence is the maximum the judge could impose.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Renaldo shot and killed Baca on June 26, 2021, with a shotgun and left her body in a wooded area. She was reported missing and found several days later on July 1.
The Buffalo News reports Baca was shot three times and her decomposing body was located in a pond near Route 438.
According to WIVB-TV, Renaldo and Baca were in an on-again, off-again relationship.
