1 person killed, 5 injured in shooting at Mississippi festival

JACKSON, Miss. (TCD) -- A shooting broke out at a popular springtime festival in which one person died and five people were injured.
On Saturday, April 30, Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones announced in a Facebook post that multiple people were shot at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds at the popular Mudbug Festival. Jones said there appeared be "several shooters" involved. A video shared Monday on the Sheriff's page shows deputies approaching a vehicle and detaining two suspects believed to have been involved in the shooting. Deputies reportedly recovered a pistol with a high-capacity magazine as well as a rifle.
According to WLBT-TV, a 15-year-old and 16-year-old were taken into custody regarding their alleged involvement in the shooting, and both men are being charged as adults. According to Hinds County Jail records, Calvin Berry faces two charges of aggravated assault, while Leedrick Trim was booked on four charges of aggravated assault.
WLBT reports the person who died at the scene was shot by law enforcement officials and is believed to have been a suspected shooter. He was between 15 and 17 years old.
The other victims who were shot are reportedly in stable condition.
