North Carolina mom found dead after kids report her missing; boyfriend arrested

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- A mother was found dead in a ditch after her child reported her missing and the woman's boyfriend was arrested.

Deputies responded to a 911 call from a child at a residence on the 100 block of Midway St. at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, where they found five kids between the ages of 2 and 12 years old. The 12-year-old told deputies said something had happened to their mother, 37-year-old Vianney Parra Arias.

The child told deputies that Arias and her Arias's boyfriend Miguel Leon, 34, left together, but Leon returned alone 30 minutes later, then left again.

At about 8:30 a.m., another 911 call reported a person in a ditch on the 6000 block of N.C. 801 south. Deputies found Arias dead at the scene.

Leon was taken into custody in Winston-Salem at about 7 a.m. Thursday and charged with felony hit-and-run with serious injury/death.
