MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. (WPTV) -- A 9-year-old boy who was abducted in Miami-Dade County has been found dead, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
An Amber Alert had been issued Thursday night for Alejandro Ripley, who is autistic.
Police said the body of a child was pulled from a canal near the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club Friday morning, WPLG reports, about four miles from the alleged abduction. The body is believed to be Ripley, though the body was not officially identified.
Miami-Dade police said the boy's mother was driving west on Southwest 88th Street near Southwest 157th Avenue Thursday night when she noticed she was being followed by a light-blue four-door sedan. Police said the driver tried to side-swipe Ripley's car, and the car then blocked her, and a passenger got out of the car and demanded drugs from her.
The boy's mother told the man she didn't have drugs. She said the suspect snatched her son and her cellphone, according to police, then got back in the car, which drove away. The driver and passenger of the blue sedan were identified by police only as two black males.
