KANSAS CITY, Mo. (TCD) -- A homicide investigation is underway after an illegal dumping complaint reportedly led to the discovery of a dead body on Tuesday.
According to WDAF-TV, the Kansas City Police Department responded to a call near East 37th Street and Oakley Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. A city employee was reportedly checking on reports of illegal dumping and instead discovered a body.
Kansas City’s City Hall defines illegal dumping as "depositing material on public or private property without the consent of the owner."
KCTV-TV says detectives and crime scene personnel went to the scene to investigate, process evidence, and search for potential witnesses. Detectives eventually gathered enough evidence to rule the suspicious death as a homicide, WDAF reports.
The body has not been identified, and authorities do not have any suspects at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
