ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (TCD) -- One woman’s alleged attempt at carrying drugs went awry recently as the illegal substances fell from a fake pregnancy belly while she fled from law enforcement.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, officials from the Special Investigation Division and Directed Patrol Unit conducted a "proactive patrol" traffic stop on Interstate 85 and pulled over Anthony Miller and Cemeka Mitchem. Miller was reportedly driving the car when they got stopped.
Deputies reportedly first noted a "red flag" when Mitchem and Miller "gave conflicting information about her 'due date.'"
Mitchem allegedly noticed deputies became suspicious of her account, so she ran off. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said drugs "fell from her fake rubber stomach." Deputies ended up collecting over 1,500 grams of cocaine, which equals over 3 pounds.
Anderson County Public Information Office Shale Remien told ABC News the deputies who pulled Miller and Mitchem over noticed Miller was driving unsafely and swerving between lanes. At one point, he reportedly almost collided with a semitruck.
Remien said Anderson County deputies discovered marijuana in the car as well.
Both Miller and Mitchem remain in custody at the Anderson County Jail.
